AI Features
Natural Language Search
Every search bar in the console understands plain English — no need to know exact entity names or USAC query syntax.
How it works
When you press Search with the sparkle ✦ icon active (purple), your query is sent to an AI model that extracts:
- ·Entity name — the district, library, or provider name to search
- ·State — a 2-letter US state code if you mentioned one
- ·Interpretation — a short label confirming what was understood
The extracted parameters are then passed to the USAC API as a structured query. You'll see a purple label below the search bar showing what was interpreted.
Examples by panel
District C2 Lookup - "Schools in California" → query: schools, state: CA - "Chicago Public Schools" → query: Chicago, state: IL - "Libraries in New York" → query: Libraries, state: NY
Form 470 Finder - "Open bids from LA Unified" → query: LA Unified - "Category 2 fiber bids in Texas" → query: fiber, state: TX
SPIN Tracker - "Cisco Systems" → query: Cisco Systems - "Fiber providers in California" → query: fiber, state: CA
Toggling AI search off
Click the sparkle ✦ icon to turn AI search off. The icon turns gray and the placeholder changes to "Search exactly as typed…". Your query goes directly to the USAC API without transformation — useful when you know the exact entity name or application number.
Typo correction
The AI handles typos and misspellings. "chigaco public schools" → Chicago Public Schools. This also means shorter, broader search terms that return more results instead of zero.
