Search Tools
District C2 Budget Lookup
Search any school district or library for their Category 2 budget status using live USAC data.
How to search
By name: Type any part of the district or library name. The search uses a LIKE query against USAC's C2 budget database — partial matches work.
By BEN: Enter a 5–8 digit Billed Entity Number for an exact lookup.
By state: Use the state dropdown to browse all entities in a state.
Natural language: With AI search enabled (sparkle icon is purple), you can type things like "libraries in New York" or "show Boston districts" — the AI extracts the name and state automatically.
Reading the results
Each result card shows:
- ·Entity name and BEN — the official USAC billed entity
- ·Location — city, state, applicant type (School District / Library)
- ·Available budget — C2 funds remaining for the current 5-year cycle
- ·Progress bar — blue shows funded, green shows available
Budget cycle
USAC runs C2 budgets on a 5-year cycle. The current cycle is FY2021–2025 (rate: $167/student) transitioning to FY2026–2030 (rate: $153/student). Some entities may show two records — one per cycle.
Clicking into a district
Click the arrow (→) on any result to open the full district profile, which shows FRN history, disbursements, and detailed budget breakdown.
AI search toggle
Click the sparkle ✦ icon in the search bar to toggle between AI-interpreted and literal search. When gray, your query is passed directly to the USAC API without any transformation.
