Form 470 Search

Filter Form 470 competitive bidding requests from USAC Open Data by geography, application details, service requests and entity attributes.

What is a Form 470?

A Form 470 is the competitive bidding request an E-Rate applicant files before choosing a service provider. It opens a bidding window of at least 28 days, during which vendors can respond.

How to use it

  1. Set filters in the panel on the left. Each section header shows how many of its filters are in use, and the top of the panel shows the total active.
  2. Click Search.
  3. Click any result row to expand it.

The search starts with Funding Years set to the current year and Status set to Certified. Remove or change these to search more widely. Clear All removes every filter, the defaults included.

Filters

Geographic Filters

  • States — choose one or more states. The list is searchable and has Select all.
  • City — matches cities that contain what you type.
  • Zip Code — matches zip codes that start with what you type.
  • BEN — exact Billed Entity Number.
  • Entity Name — matches the billed entity name or the form nickname.

Application Filters

  • Application Number — an exact Form 470 application number.
  • Funding Years — one or more funding years.
  • Status — Certified or Canceled.
  • Certified Date, Allowable Contract Date, Last Modified Date — from/to date ranges.
  • State/Local Requirements — Any, Yes or No.
  • Number of Eligible Entities — a min/max range.
  • Has Category One narrative — only forms that include a Category One description.
  • RFP attached — only service requests with an RFP attached.

Service Request Filters

  • Service Type — one of the USAC service types, such as Internal Connections or Data Transmission and/or Internet Access.
  • Function / Service — choose one or more functions (for example switches, wireless access points or leased lit fiber). The list loads live from USAC, so it always uses USAC's current wording.
  • Quantity Requested — a min/max range on the quantity in the service request.

Entity Filters

  • Applicant Type — Consortium, Library, Library System, School or School District.

Working with results

Each row is one service request on a Form 470. An application with several service requests shows up on several rows.

The table shows App #, Entity Name (with the form nickname under it), State, FY, Service Category, Status, Certified date and a PDF link to the Form 470. The newest certified forms come first.

Click a row to expand it. You'll see:

  • BEN and location
  • applicant type
  • number of eligible entities
  • contact name and email
  • service type and function
  • allowable contract date
  • the RFP upload date, when there is one

The expanded row also has these actions:

  • Find linked 471s — opens Form 471 Search, filtered to FRNs whose establishing Form 470 is this application
  • View 470 — opens the Form 470 PDF on USAC's site
  • View RFP — opens the attached RFP documents. When there's no RFP, the row says No RFP attached.

Results load 250 at a time, and the header shows "Showing X of Y records". To fetch the next page, click Load N more at the bottom (or Load more if the total is unknown).

Exports

Download Results saves an Excel file (form470-search-results.xlsx) with every matching record, up to 5,000, even if you haven't loaded them all on screen. Columns include the application number, nickname, entity, BEN, location, applicant type, funding year, status, service category and type, function, quantity and unit, capacities, dates, contact, and links to the Form 470 PDF and RFP documents.

If more than 5,000 records match, a note says the file was capped. Narrow the filters to get a complete file.

Tips

  • To find bids for specific equipment, combine Function / Service with States and the current Funding Years.
  • To see only bids that come with a formal RFP, turn on RFP attached.
  • If you see No Form 470 records found, widen your filters or clear a few of them.
